Garden Terrace Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in Salt Lake City, recently changed its name to Life Care Center of Salt Lake City.

The change officially went into effect on Aug. 1, 2015. Only the name has changed – the services and management remain the same.

The name was changed to better reflect the population the facility serves – from Alzheimer’s patients on its secure unit to short-term therapy patients and outpatients. The staff at the center can treat a variety of needs, including orthopedic surgery recovery, swallowing disorders, Parkinson’s disease and wounds.

“Our community’s needs have changed over the years since our building opened, including an increased need for therapy services for people without cognitive deficits,” said Dana Alcorn, executive director at Life Care Center of Salt Lake City. “We have been serving many types of patients for a long time now, and we felt that it was time to update our name to reflect that.”

The center accepts Medicare and several other types of insurance.
